The story
Nguyen Huu Cau, the small street along the side of Tan Dinh Market, has a cluster of well-known Hue food shops. They serve banh canh Nam Pho, banh beo, banh loc, banh nam, bun bo Hue and nem lui from morning to evening. The best-known is Hue O Xuan, which fills two storefronts opposite the market. In the evening, a long row of stalls along the market's side stays busy until late at night.

Order a mixed plate of Hue cakes (banh Hue thap cam) to share, then a bowl of banh canh Nam Pho each.
Visit mid-afternoon if you want a table without the morning and evening rush.

When to go
Hue O Xuan is busiest in the early morning and at night, and nearly empty in the afternoon. It was reported open 06:30–21:30 in 2014. Evening stalls along the market run from evening until late.
