이야기
A craft village about 10 km southeast of central Hue where paper flowers have been made since the 16th century, according to the Đại Nam nhất thống chí chronicle. Artisans cut paper with iron chisels on wooden molds, shape the petals with string, add the stamens and mount each flower on a bamboo stem, all by hand. The lotus is the signature flower. Visitors can watch the process and make a flower themselves.
A village keeping the traditional craft of making paper flowers, carried on and renewed over time. Workshops need to be arranged in advance.
The craft is recorded back to the 16th century in the Đại Nam nhất thống chí; artisan Tran Phu is a third-generation practitioner.
