The story
Opened in 2016 on Nguyen Van Binh street, Book Street hosts a dozen bookshops (several with English-language shelves), vintage book dealers, and pop-up author events. Cafes with outdoor seating line the lane end to end.
One block of pure calm in the city center: independent bookstores, secondhand stalls, shaded benches, and coffee carts under old trees. It's the gentlest hour you can spend downtown.
Local tips
Look for vintage Indochina-era postcards and maps at the secondhand stalls — far better souvenirs than market trinkets.
