The story
Built by the Cantonese community, the Jade Emperor Pagoda honors the Taoist king of heavens alongside Buddhist and folk deities. Statues of generals, the Chief of Hell, and the fertility goddess Kim Hoa draw a constant stream of worshippers.
This is the most atmospheric temple in central Saigon: incense coils overhead, turtle pond outside, and the Hall of Ten Hells' wooden panels inside. It feels a century away from the traffic outside.
