The story
Ms Truong Thi Phuong's banh mi shop at 2B Phan Chau Trinh started in the 1990s and became internationally known after Anthony Bourdain praised it. It offers 20-plus fillings, from pâté and cha lua to grilled pork, butter chicken and cheese, and queues often form at peak times.
More touristy than most places here, but well known enough locally to keep as a reference point.
Run by owner Truong Thi Phuong, who began selling banh mi in the 1990s.
