The story
Open since 1989, Huynh Hoa is the banh mi against which all others are measured. Each baguette is crammed with layered cha lua, headcheese, ham, shredded pork skin, butter, and a thick smear of pate. There is a fast-moving queue system; sandwiches are wrapped to go.
It is the heaviest, most maximalist banh mi in the city — a foie-gras-rich pate bomb that costs triple a normal banh mi and is still worth doing once. The queue itself is a Saigon ritual.

A short Grab bike ride from anywhere in District 1; Le Thi Rieng is narrow, so hop off at the Cach Mang Thang Tam end and walk 1 minute.
