Câu chuyện
Ba Le is a square brick well in a small alley off Tran Hung Dao. Tradition attributes it to the Cham people, and it is known for clear fresh water. It is named after a local woman who paid for its restoration in the early 20th century, making it Hoi An's only heritage well named after a person. Local heritage sources link its water to Hoi An dishes, especially cao lau. It is a quick, free stop with mossy old brickwork.
Not a restaurant but a story stop. Locals associate the well's water with cao lau and mi Quang; this is local tradition, not an established scientific fact.
Attributed to the Cham period, with dates varying by source. Renovated in the early 20th century with a donation of 100 Indochinese piastres from a woman named Ba Le.
Mẹo địa phương
The well is known for its water carriers, who sold its water around the neighborhood. One guide names Nguyen Duong, who carried water for over 60 years, and Huynh Ngoc Noi, with over 40 years.
