The story
Tra Que is a centuries-old vegetable and herb village about 3 km from Hoi An Ancient Town, set on land wrapped by the Co Co River and Tra Que lagoon. Some 200 households farm around 18 hectares and grow about 20 kinds of crops, fertilizing with river seaweed and manure instead of chemical pesticides. You can walk or cycle between the green beds, try planting and watering with local farmers, or join a cooking class. In November 2024 UN Tourism named it one of the world's Best Tourism Villages.

VnExpress (2024) says the village dates from the 16th century. Its vegetable-growing craft was listed as National Intangible Cultural Heritage in April 2022.

Local tips
Pay the 35,000₫ entry, then just walk or cycle the lanes. A paid class is optional.
For hands-on time, book a farming and cooking class that includes planting, watering or harvesting with a farmer, then cooking with the herbs.
Bring a hat and sunscreen. The beds are open and exposed to the sun.

Getting there
About 3 km northwest of the Ancient Town (Cam Ha area), so a bicycle is an easy, popular way to get there. Motorbike also works.
