The story
Pho Bat Dan at 49 Bat Dan is known for the queue at its door. At busy times you line up, order and pay at the counter, then carry your own bowl to a seat. There are only three choices: rare beef, well-done beef, or rare beef with brisket. The owner credits fresh, good ingredients. The Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand in 2023 and 2024.
Serves Hanoi-style beef pho. The self-service ritual of queuing and paying up front is part of the experience.

Open in two sittings, about 6:00–10:00 and 18:00–22:30. The longest queues are around 8:30–9:30, and it often sells out after about 9:00, so arrive early.
