The story
The food hall inside Hoi An Central Market (Chợ Hội An) packs 24 stalls into four long aisles. Vendors cook cao lau, mi Quang, banh xeo, bun thit nuong and more, and locals eat here alongside tourists. Stallholders are friendly but can be a little pushy.
Many vendors in one spot selling cao lau, mi Quang, vegetarian rice plates and snacks.
The market building was rebuilt in the late 2000s, replacing the older French-era market.

Local tips
Look for stalls where Vietnamese customers are eating; that is a good sign of a solid vendor.
Drink vendors come to your table separately, and you may have to pay them separately.
Vendors can be pushy as you enter. Take a slow walk around before choosing, and try the side doors for stalls most tourists miss.
There is a dedicated vegetarian stall and fresh juice stalls (pomelo, custard apple).
English menus are available on request.
