The story
Thanh Giao is a duck hotpot restaurant in an alley off Ly Tu Trong that the Can Tho tourism portal says nearly every local knows. It was built by craftsman Nguyen Thanh Giao, and a Can Tho TV feature says it has been kept through three generations. The pot combines duck, duck blood pudding, taro and straw mushrooms braised with both red and white chao (fermented tofu), giving a rich, naturally sweet broth.
Vit nau chao, duck cooked with fermented tofu (chao), is a dish tied to Can Tho's cuisine. The fermentation behind the chao is the story here.

Tables start filling from about 3pm and stay busy until late (reported 2019). Come for lunch, before 3pm, if you want quicker service.
