The story
Nam Loi is a Chinese-style noodle shop at 43 Ton That Dam, near Ham Nghi, that Thanh Nien described in 2013 as more than 60 years old. Its bowls have clear, sweet broth, thick hu tieu noodles and fresh fish; Thanh Nien also noted the lard oil and snakehead fish. Chicken noodles and warm pate chaud pastries are also on the menu. The room is plain, with fans and no air conditioning.

Recent listings show a morning shift (06:00–12:00) and a short afternoon shift (about 13:00–16:00/16:30). One 2026 review says it is closed Saturdays and Sundays, while Foody lists only public holidays as closed, so go on a weekday morning to be safe.
