The story
A Kim Long institution on the north bank of the Perfume River, opened in 1968 by two teachers and now run by their descendants in the third generation. The star is soft, freshly steamed rice sheets rolled around thin slices of pork marinated with pepper, shallot, fish sauce, lemongrass and sesame, then grilled over charcoal. Each order comes as five rolls with a choice of sweet-and-sour fish sauce or a sesame-bean sauce (tương mè đậu).
A family business run across three generations. The specialty is banh uot (steamed rice sheets) rolled with grilled pork, served with a sesame-bean sauce. If vegetarian, ask about fish sauce.
