A garden house in an old Kim Long home down alley 104, where O Le (also called Me Le) serves Hue's steamed rice cakes, handmade and steamed over a wood fire. Banh beo comes topped with crispy bits, banh loc is large and filled with shrimp and pork fat, and there's also banh nam and ram it. The courtyard is brick-paved with plastic tables, and most customers are locals.

Use the right sauce: sweet fish sauce for banh beo, banh nam and ram it, salty fish sauce for banh loc.

Mornings are for buying uncooked cakes to take away; come after about 10:00 to eat in.

It's busy at lunch and early evening, so come a bit early to avoid waiting.
