The story
Tuy Loan is an old village southwest of Da Nang where families still make toasted rice paper entirely by hand. The batter is seasoned with sesame, ginger or garlic, sugar, fish sauce and salt, spread on bamboo racks and dried over charcoal. The craft became National Intangible Cultural Heritage in February 2024, but only about 15 households still practice it, so visits feel like dropping into family workshops.
Tuy Loan has made rice paper for more than 500 years, and the craft is tied to mi Quang and countryside meals. Workshops are run by individual households, best visited in the morning.
Village settled in the 16th century; rice paper craft recognized as National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2024 (Decision 374/QĐ-BVHTTDL).

When to go
Go early morning (07:00–10:00) or late afternoon (15:30–17:30), when it is cooler and the light is better; midday production often pauses for the heat.
Getting there
About 15–20 km southwest of the center in Hoa Phong via National Route 14B, 20–30 minutes by car. A taxi or ride-hail costs about 150,000–200,000₫ one way. Ba Na Hills is about 30 minutes away, so the two combine easily.
